Kitties In A Canoe
Psalms 32:7
Nahum 1:7
Ephesians 2:13
Psalms 46:1
My husband has a canoe that hangs around outside . It attracts the attention of a certain little population. The neighborhood kitty cats…
They seem to be very attracted to it and love it. Multiple times we have found kitties in it. Oh the cuteness!
I started wondering why do they like it so much. For one thing it is a bit of shelter for them. They were hidden away in it. Secondly someone told me it is because the canoe is insulated. Those adorable kitties are tiny creatures in a big world where anything can happen. I’m sure they feel pretty secure In the refuge of that canoe. Humanity also is pretty small in the grand scheme of things. In our vast world where anything can happen you can choose to be sheltered in Christ like kitties in a canoe! “You are my hiding place. You will preserve me from trouble. You will surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah.” Psalms 32:7 WEBUS
As the rain came down and the waters rose Noah and his family along with the Animals were sheltered in the Ark. I’m sure the two kitties on the Ark really felt safe In That boat! People beat against the door as they were drowning but God had concealed Noah and his crew inside, then, shut the door. Noah was a man who loved, served and honored God so he was sheltered by the Almighty. Our relationship with God thru His son Jesus is like a canoe for the soul. “The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.”
Nahum 1:7 KJV
Unlike the little canoe which is open to its surroundings the Ark was enclosed and a substance called pitch was applied. It’s purpose was to insulate against water coming in. Insulation covers and surrounds.
We as believers are covered by the Blood of of Jesus.. “But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off are made near in the blood of Christ.” Ephesians 2:13 WEBUS
We need that insulation each and every single day. I pray daily and ask for the Blood of Jesus to cover me, my family and my home. The Holy Spirit is the surrounding portion of our insulation. He surrounds our soul to keep our canoe in the sanctuary of God’s presence. He brings the Joy of the Lord into it so that we can delight in the Lord. This draws others to the Ark of grace and hope,
“God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1 KJV
While we aren’t closed off to the perils of the big open world around us we can choose the peace of sheltering in Christ like Kitties in a canoe.
