Jesus and Coffee
Psalms 23:6
Psalms 23:1
Hebrews 6:19
Romans 5:5
Let’s talk about coffee for a second. When I was a kid I decided to try coffee because I wanted to drink it with my dad. Eww it was bitter! The majority of my adult life I just enjoyed the smell of coffee but wanted no part of drinking it. My son, however, changed All of that a few years ago when he treated me to a Frappe. Now, I am part of the coffee loving world! Commenting to a family member about how much coffee goodness I had missed out on, I learned that my dad drank his with no sugar or creamer. No wonder it was bitter! I missed out because I didn’t realize that coffee didn’t have to be bitter.
I want to share with you today that life doesn’t have to be bitter
The 23rd Psalm speaks of God’s faithfulness. It ends with verse 6 which says
“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.” Notice though that this chapter starts in Verse 1 with “The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not want” While flavor in my coffee starts with creamer and sweetener Hope starts with the Love of God.
Cup after cup, time after time His love never goes empty. Yes, life’s bitterness will come at times but we have promises that are sweetly secure. Hebrews 6:19 says “This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil,”
Hope poured out at the cross. Jesus poured His life and blood on the cross. He tore the veil giving us access to the Holy of Holies. We can take all the bitterness of our sin and life hurts, sickness and hardship to Him. Then He pours in us Salvation, healing, peace, restoration and all that we need.
Don’t miss out on Hope! If your cup is bitter and empty all you have to do is bring it to Jesus. For those who don’t yet know Him just believe in your heart, repent of your sins and ask Him to be your Lord and Savior.
“Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”
